Ye twitter
And lots of YA authors think they are special snowflakes and when someone hurts their feelings they need to go on a twitter tirade and rope in other author friends and their followers into blasting the offender.

A lot of interactions smack of professional jealousy to me, with authors wanting to take each other down. I think it’s especially bad when these “rallying cries” are started or championed by authors. It’s like if one person says “this is problematic!” it is taken as gospel truth and all of YA twitter takes up the chant even if they have no idea what they’re talking about. Most of the drama around upcoming titles, for instance, happens among people who haven’t even read the books for themselves but are railing against authors for perceived slights they haven’t even read. It seems like such a miserably toxic place, and while I’m sure there are enclaves of reasonable people who don’t spout off on every little piece of drama, I just ignore it. It’s not really a place for measured discussion or review, imo. The loudest voices tend to be the dumbest. Too many hot takes, everyone is constantly being “canceled” for usually harmless things, everyone has an opinion, people calling other people out based on reviews of reviews, etc. I won’t touch twitter with a 10 foot pole.
